The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Eastern Region Jeff Konadu has declined to explain why lawyer Philip Addison was disqualified from contesting the upcoming primaries in the Akuapem North constituency.
He has however rubbished claims that the lawyer was disqualified through unfair means so the incumbent MP who is also the Deputy Information Minister, Nana Ama Dokua, will go unopposed.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that the party’s constituency office would present its report to the national headquarters before any official comment about the lawyer’s disqualification is made3 public.
He disclosed that only two persons on the vetting committee, approved the lawyer but he could not sail through.
He added that if lawyer Addison is dissatisfied with his disqualification, he has an opportunity to appeal it.
Meanwhile, Rainbowradioonline.com gathered that lawyer Addison started campaigning before nominations were opened, a situation which flouted the rules of the party.
According to information available, Addison held little knowledge of the constituency he was competing for.
It has also been speculated that he didn’t even know the number of polling stations in the constituency as well as the electoral areas.
