We didn’t ransack Flagstaff House – Apaak

Former government officials have strongly dismissed reports that they ransacked the Flagstaff House before exiting office.

According to the Chronicle newspaper, most presidential staffers of the previous administration took away fridges, calendars, TV sets, vehicles and wall clocks that were used to furnish their offices by the state.

However, in a swift response, former presidential staffer in the Mahama administration, Dr. Clement Apaak, has described the report as mischievous and baseless.

Mr. Apaak told Abena Nyamekye on the Starr Midday News Friday that all state properties were returned and properly documented.

“We run a very responsible government, we respected the public purse…I am speaking to you as a member of the presidential staff and I can tell you on authority that neither me nor my colleagues took a calendar, a wall clock or fridge as being alleged.”

Mr. Apaak added that the claims by ruling government is an attempt to demonise Mahama’s government.

“It is obvious that there is an attempt to try and demonise the former government and make it look like we were greedy and selfish…this baseless and mischievous allegation is going to be treated with contempt,” Mr. Apaak said.
