The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has cautioned the general public to disregard information being circulated by some travelling agencies who claim to have permits and endorsements from the ministry to transport stranded persons through the Ghana-Togo border to return to the United States of America.

The Ministry explained that they do not have the mandate to issue permit of entry or exit for any individual or group adding that they do not currently have any schedule for persons travelling out of Ghana.

They have subsequently denied any involvement with these supposed agencies.

In June 2020, some stranded Ghanaian citizens were evacuated from Newark-New Jersey and Washington DC to Ghana due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry has therefore advised unsuspecting foreigners who are desperate to go back to their respective countries to be more careful with the travel agencies they deal with since some unscrupulous persons are using the name of the ministry to extort monies from innocent people.
