The Eastern regional Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Hackman Kabore, has stated that the party will deal with the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission if she doesn’t change her conduct towards the NDC and work within the remit of free, fair and transparent electoral processes.
According to him, the posture and actions of the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, is a clear indication that she was put at the commission to execute a specific political agenda in favour of the NPP.
Hackman Kabore explained that, the EC Chair since assumption of office is taking unconventional decisions in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party and shunning views of the opposition parties.
She said the recent fracas between the Chairperson and the General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia during an IPAC meeting was shameful conduct on her part as EC chair.
Hackman Kabore said the NDC will from henceforth see the EC chair as “a disguised NPP Women’s Organizer and will deal with her as such.”
“I am telling you, the woman will regret ever accepting to execute political agenda for the NPP. The NDC will deal with her, match her ill agenda boot for boot until she behaves like an independent chairperson.”
He said this in Koforidua in an interaction with the media.
The Chairperson of Ghana’s Independent Electoral body, since assuming office after her predecessor was removed from office by the incumbent government over procurement breaches has not had fruitful relationship with the NDC.
The Decision by the EC to conduct the limited registration exercise at the District offices of the EC has deepened cracks between the EC chair and the NDC who has vehemently opposed the decision accusing the EC of violating its own regulations by not conducting the exercise at the Electoral level.
