The Volta Regional Minister Dr Archibald Letsa has warned that media houses that allow the spread of Western Togoland propaganda on their platforms will be dealt with according to law by the country’s security setup.
The Minister reminded media houses that the Homeland Study Group Foundation, which declared Western Togoland independent, is being closely monitored by National Security which has resulted in the arrest of many of its members, adding that media houses that allow and journalists would not be spared if they allow the secessionist group to use them for their illegal activities.
“The Western Togoland issue has been a major security matter for us in the region in 2019 and we have had complaints about some radio stations giving these people platforms to promote their evil agenda against the country…But I want to sound a word of caution to the owners and the presenters there, that they will be held liable when national security is taking action against the group,” the Minister said at a Press Soiree in Ho last Tuesday.
In November last year, the Homeland Study Group Foundation led by Charles Kormi Kudzordzi (Papavi) declared parts of the Upper East, Northern, North East and the Volta Regions as an independent state.
Scores of the group have since been arrested and are facing prosecution.
