We’ll go all out to protect Akufo-Addo – Blay

Acting NPP Chairman, Freddie Blay Acting NPP Chairman, Freddie Blay

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has served notice it will go all out to “legitimately” protect its flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo because it has picked up intelligence that his life and that of his vice Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are in danger.

The acting National Chairman of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition Freddie Blay said the party will not be intimidated by the tactics being employed by the John Mahama administration and his National Democratic Congress to “compromise the security” of Nana Addo and Bawumia.

Three South African ex-police men who are in Ghana to train some security personnel of the main opposition including the drivers and photographers of the flagbearer and his running mate were arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) over the weekend.

The trio were arrested at the El Capitano Hotel in Agona Duakwa for allegedly training 15 young men in various security drill and rapid response maneuvers, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques and were allegedly brought into Ghana by one Capt Koda, who is the head of security of opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo.

They are 54-year-old Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.), 39-year–old WO/ Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) and 45-year-old Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.).

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Mr. Blay said the president and the NDC are only seeking to throw spanner in the works of their security detail following the “incarceration of the three” South Africans.

Meanwhile, the three have been arraigned in court and charged with unlawful training and false declaration.
