We’ll implement the 'Buy Ghana First' policy – Dr Bawumia promises

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured that his government will implement the “Buy Ghana First” policy to create jobs.

While addressing the gathered crowd at the Borteyman Sports Complex on the plans he has to create jobs when he assumes position as president, Dr Bawumia stated that this policy, “Buy Ghana First” will be back by the law and implemented across the public and private sectors

“We’ll implement a new policy. We will use Government purchasing power to stimulate industrial expansion and business growth to create jobs by implementing the “Buy Ghana First” policy,” Dr Bawumia explained.

According to him, this policy will ensure that all goods procured in the public sectors will be filled goods and services produced in Ghana only.

He recounted when he paid a visit to the Volta Textile company in Juapong where management complained that textiles for schools and companies are now being imported into the country.

The Vice President stated that the company lamented how schools and other companies they used to print textiles for have stopped patronizing the local textiles.

According to Dr Bawumia, this motivated and birth the “Buy Ghana” policy. He explained will increase jobs in the country.

“We will back it with the law. So if the Ministry of Education is ordering uniforms for students, they will look inside the country, look for local textile companies, and local tailors and buy from Ghana first”, Dr Bawumia assured.
