The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Alhassan Tampuli is convinced Dagbon will open a new chapter of development after the funeral performances of the two late eminent chiefs of Dagbon.

Speaking exclusively to 3news.com at the climax of the funeral rite of Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV in Yendi, the NPA boss said the resources to be used in maintaining law and order in Yendi could now be channeled into developing the municipality and the region at large.

“There is no denying the fact that the security officials that are posted here are a drain on the National economy,” he said, noting that the amount of money spent on them could have been sent to the Yendi Municipal Assembly or the Northern Regional Coordinating Council for developmental activities; to build schools, to build hospitals, to construct roads and dams.

“All these resources are being channeled into maintaining law and order,” he observed.

He thanked the committee of eminent chiefs led by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Abudu and Andani Royal gates and the security agencies for their co-operation which has led to the funerals of the two late chiefs.

Mr. Tampuli called on all the Dagombas across to support them in bringing closure to the conflict and bring lasting peace and tranquility to Dagbon.

“I think that all sons and daughters of Dagbon have to pull their weight behind this exercise so that we see the closure to the conflict. We open the doors of reconciliation, we say yes to peace and tranquility as those are the bases for which we can have development.”

Amidst drumming and dancing, there was a display of culture by the thousands of people who graced the final funeral rites of Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV in Yendi Friday.

The Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia was among the dignitaries who graced the 14 days funeral performance. The funeral was climaxed with a Muslim prayer on Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Jummah Mosque in Yendi.

The Abudu Royal gate per the roadmap are mandated to vacate the temporary Gbewa Palace Friday, December 28, 2018 at 12:00 am and hand over the keys to the Regional Security Council for onward delivery to the Andani Royal gate to commence the funeral rites of Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani which is slated for January 18, 2019 to pave way for a new Yaa-Naa to be enskinned.
