The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor, has hinted that the NDC will arrest and prosecute corrupt officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government if voted into power in 2020.
According to the septuagenarian politician, appointees of the current administration will be haunted in equal measure in response to what he said was ill-treatment and persecution of some NDC members.
“Whatever the NPP does, we will win the elections in 2020, but when we win, we will do more than what they are doing to us. Mark my words from today, there’s too much thievery in the Akufo Addo led NPP government and we will deal with them when we come to power in 2020,” Peter Boamah Otokunor exclusively told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.
The NDC firebrand has consistently been exposing persons he claims engaged in corrupt deals under the Akufo Addo’s administration.
These persons, he says, must be arrested, arraigned before court and jailed for causing financial loss to the nation, he told Kwame Tutu.
Otokunor reiterated that Nana Akufo-Addo and his men should be prepared to be paid back in their own coin when the NDC wins power in the 2020 general elections.
He added that the NDC could do the same to key members of the NPP when the party wins power at the next elections.
Mr Otokunor said the party had observed how the Akufo-Addo-led government is using state security agencies to persecute some key members of the main opposition party in the country.
Barely three years into Akufo-Addo’s administration no former government appointee has been hauled before the courts, prompting some political watchers to argue the NPP was engaging in campaign rhetoric.
The controversial politician gave the assurance to NDC members, saying the party will make sure that acts of reprisal are played back to the NPP “when the NDC takes overpower” in 2021.
