We'll scrutinize detail of state resources NDC gov't will hand over - Kokofu

MP for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu MP for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu

Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon Henry Kwabena Kokofu has urged President-elect, Nana Addo’s transition team to be vigilant in the ongoing handing over of state resources.

According to him, it beholds on the new administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo to make Ghanaians know the true state of the nation before NPP took over government from the Mahama led administration.

Speaking on Oman’s 'Today’s Agenda', Hon Kokofu pointed out that the resources NPP is taking over, does not belong to the party but Ghanaians’ and as such, they will want to know how much is left in the coffers of the state and the real debt of the country.

"As the NDC challenged Dr. Bawumia over the indebtedness of the country, we now have the opportunity to make Ghanaians know the real deal about the economy of the country," he asserted.

"Dr. Bawumia asked 170 questions concerning the economy which the Vice President, Amissah-Arthur should have answered but he has not up to date answered any, but we believe the transition handing over note will help us to address these questions,” he reiterated.

He insisted saying “we will scrutinize every detail of the state resources to know the actual figures and numbers left behind for Nana Addo’s administration so that the NDC will not come out to say otherwise. Everything will be put out for public consumption.”

He mentioned again that this will help Nana Addo to give the true state of the nation address to Parliament when he takes over the mantle on January 7, 2017 as the previous state of the nation address by President Mahama didn’t reflect a true account of events.

“The economic statistics given by the Mahama administration did not reflect in the lives of Ghanaians. And Nana Addo has the opportunity to give out the true state of the country so that Ghanaians can measure Nana Addo’s administration with the resources he inherited from Mahama’s administration in the future,” he averred.

He however urged the NPP youth who have taken it upon themselves to seize public toilets and toll booths to desist from the act as it is not in their domain to do so.
