The Chiefs of Hwidiem in the Asutifi South District and Kenyasi Number 1 and 2 in the Ahafo Region have issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding the immediate resumption of work on the Hwidiem-Kenyasi road.

During a press conference held in Kenyasi, the Chiefs expressed their frustration over the ongoing delay in road repairs, which they claim is severely impacting their communities.

The contractor assigned to the project, Kofi Job, has been given a deadline to recommence work or face the consequences.

The Chiefs have set August 6, 2024, as the date for a large-scale demonstration if their demands are not met. They warned that their patience was wearing thin and emphasized the urgency of the situation.

Nana Agyemang, speaking on behalf of the three communities, criticized the government's inaction despite previous calls for urgent attention to the deteriorating road conditions.

"The road continues to worsen with no intervention from the authorities. We urge all citizens to join us in the upcoming demonstration.

“While we are committed to resolving this issue peacefully, we may have no choice but to continue with protests until the roads are fixed. We hope that the government and other stakeholders will heed our call and take immediate action,” citinewsroom.com quoted him as saying.
