Reverend Dr. Adu Gyamfi, Chairman of the Peace Council, stated that approximately $1 million is required to enhance their capacity in preparing for and addressing potential challenges surrounding the elections.

He mentioned that the current workload has greatly strained their resources, impeding their ability to perform crucial functions effectively.

The National Peace Council has emphasized the urgent need for increased funding as it prepares for the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Gyamfi revealed in an interview with TV3, "For election-related activities, we need $1 million in dollar terms, and some donors have expressed interest in assisting."

The National Peace Council plays a crucial role in fostering a peaceful electoral process, mediating conflicts, and facilitating dialogue among political parties.

However, the growing demands for overseeing elections and reducing violence require significant financial and human resources, which the Peace Council currently lacks.

During an inter-party dialogue on mitigating election violence, Rev. Adu Gyamfi pointed out that some of their regional secretaries are overwhelmed by their workload.

"We need more funds and staff; our regional secretaries are overburdened and are requesting drivers, which we currently do not have. There is a need for more resources and personnel to handle the increasing workload," he added.
