Emmanuel Victor Smith of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] has recalled how instrumental former President John Jerry Rawlings was to see the party in opposition.
He said Rawlings’ hardcore criticisms on the former government played a major role to ensure they taste opposition.
“The former president has expressed his unhappiness with some policies and appointees by the NDC from late President Atta Mills’s era to immediate past president, John Dramani Mahama. His criticisms really affected us,” he said.
According to him, leadership of the NDC must iron out any differences with the party’s founder to facilitate their victory in the 2020 presidential election.
“We need Rawlings to win the 2020 election” – Victor Smith's comments comes after the Minority in Parliament paid the former president a visit to plead with him to come back to the party and help it to regain power.
