The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reminded fellow politicians to remain cognizant of the fact that the goal of seeking power is to ensure the well-being of the people.

He said it was important that all stakeholders, including the security agencies and the press, work to maintain peace and stability in the country.

Dr. Bawumia who was the first candidate to speak at the Presidential Election Peace Pact signing ceremony organised by the National Peace Council, predicted that Ghana will successfully conduct its 9th general election.

“I am full of hope that all of us leaders and our followers will live up to the peace pact we’re going to sign today, and I encourage the security agencies who are doing an excellent job and the media and all stakeholders to do all they can to ensure and preserve the peace.

“I would like to end by emphasising that the only reason we seek power is to use it to deliver prosperity to the people of this country. I therefore wholeheartedly pledge my commitment to working within the rules and to collaborate with all to ensure a peaceful election,” Dr. Bawumia averred.

The NPP leader said the election was an “opportunity” to reaffirm commitment to our constitutional democracy. He said he was certain of two outcomes when all is said and done: “Ghana will win, and peace will prevail.”
