We’re building Ghana project with wisdom – Ofori-Atta

Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta

The Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, Thursday, told Members of Parliament (MPs), especially, those in the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus, that the New Patriotic Party (NPP)-led government is harnessing the wisdom that resides in the heads of its members to turn the country’s rich natural resource into a huge industrial boom.

Quoting from the New King James Version of the Bible, Proverbs 24:3-4 which states that “Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches”, Mr. Ofori-Atta figuratively told the NDC MPs that the country’s greatness lies in the wisdom they can harness, stressing that is their focus to building a prosperous nation.

“As a government, we are committed to building this Ghana project with wisdom. The wisdom of our founding fathers as well as the wisdom gained from our own experiences. We will learn from the wisdom of nations that have gone ahead us as well as the wisdom of our own citizens – home and abroad. Above all, we will learn from the wisdom of God”, he noted.

Mr. Ofori-Atta made this observation when presenting the Mid-year fiscal policy review of the 2018 budget statement and economic policy on the floor of Parliament.

Commenting further, he told the House that the government was making significant strides in establishing a strong and prudent macroeconomic and development agenda on a solid foundation.

He was confident that the country was now well established on a sustainable growth path, stressing that “the initiatives we have undertaken are bringing greater clarity of our priorities with emphasis on spending on growth enhancing opportunities such as road and railway development and the IPEP”.
