The fatal motor crash on Wednesday night involving Kumasi Asante Kotoko team bus has left the porcupine warrior family in grief, management say.
Officials of the Sporting Club in a Press statement said:”We regret to announce that, our Deputy Equipment Officer, Kofi Asare could not make it. Management has met his family to brief them of the sad event”
Meanwhile, the statement said Head Coach, Steven Polack; Team Manager, Godwin Ablordey; midfielder, Ollennu Ashitey and the bus driver, Nana Berkye are on admission receiving treatment.
“Players and officials who sustained minor injuries have all been treated and discharged,” the statement added.
The Medical Team and Management say they will follow-up on all the treated and discharged victims, adding “on Saturday, the Medical Team will invite every member of the team who was on the bus for thorough examination again.”
Players and some back room staff of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC were involved in a gory accident at Nantia, about 300 meters to the main Nkawkaw bypass road.
The accident occurred around 21:45 GMT, according to eyewitnesses.
The team was returning to Kumasi after suffering a 1:0 defeat from Inter Allies FC in the Ghana Premier League mid-week fixture which was played in Tema on Wednesday.
The bus in which the players were traveling in, Kasapafmonline.com understands, run into a parked truck which resulted in the unfortunate incident.
