Fisher folks in the Central Region have registered their preparedness to go at all lengths to ensure that former President John Dramani Mahama becomes the Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces after the 2020 polls.

Apam fishermen who openly made the promise, insist they will do everything possible within their power to bring Mahama back to power in order to resurrect the collapsing fishing industry in the country under the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Chief Fisherman of Apam, Ebusuapanyin Martey who spoke on behalf of fishermen, expressed disappointment in the current government’s inability to provide them with enough premix fuel and subsidized outboard motors which was initiated by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

According to him, the price increment of premix fuel and outboard motors has made their livelihood difficult and promised to do everything possible to bring Mahama back to power come 2020, saying, and “even if we need to go deep into the sea to bring Mahama back we will”.

Former President John Dramani Maham who is on a campaign tour of the Central Region was given the assurance by the fishermen when he visited Gomoa West with his entourage to interact with drivers, fishermen, market women as well as stakeholders to seek their votes ahead of the 2020 polls.

He expressed disappointment about the collapsing fishing industry under the incumbent government despite several promises it made promising to revamp it when he returns to power.

According to him, the relationship between the NDC and fishermen was tight which started from late President Prof John Evans Atta Mills.

“We are all aware about the untold economic hardship that the governing New Patriot Party (NPP) has brought to this country”, he said.

Former president Mahama called on them to vote against NPP come 2020 general elections promising the people of Maford with fishing harbour if the NDC wins power in 2020.
