We’re shocked over Mahama’s killing - Agyepong

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyepong has said the party is in a state of shock following the killing of its Upper East regional chairman Mahama Adams.

Adams was acid-attacked on Wednesday evening near his residence and died at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital Thursday morning.

The police have arrested one suspect who is being transferred to Accra for interrogation.

According to the general secretary, the party is also “saddened” by the tragedy.

“We unreservedly condemn this criminal act. We expect that the Police Service will act swiftly in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to face the full wrath of the law,” a statement signed by Agyepong said.

“We call on our party faithful to remain calm in this sad moment of ours and trust the security agencies to give us justice.

“We mourn and stand together with the family of our departed patriot in this moment of shock and grief and direct that all party flags fly half-mast across the country,” it concluded.
