The Electoral Commission (EC) has expressed strong confidence in the media’s ability to provide transparent and accurate reporting during the 2024 general elections.

Addressing the media during the ongoing elections, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa highlighted the important role the media plays in maintaining public trust.

She emphasised that the Commission has granted full access to media personnel across the country, including polling stations, constituency collation centres, regional collation centres, and the national collation centre.

She further stressed the EC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity.

“Today, the media will have access to all our centres across the country. As we are all aware, the commission has granted access to all our polling stations, our constituencies collations centres, all our regional collations centres and our national collations centres to the media. the media will first of all have to verify the information…. This testament of the bad news that the commission holds, bad news of transparency, bad news of accountability, bad news of integrity…. We believe that the media will cover all aspects of our work, they will inject the needed transparency into all aspects of our work. This will provided the citizens with vital information and eliminate suspicions that have been characterised with our work.”
