Acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) John Boadu has backed calls by the party’s National Youth Organizer for government appointees to give preference to NPP supporters in recruitment.
Boadu argued that is only fair that his government gives priority to people who believed in the dreams and aspirations of the party first.
Similar calls have generated debate in the past, but Boadu insists there is nothing wrong in considering the Jobs and contracts to their party people who have toiled to see the party in government.
“If there is any appointment, there are others that didn’t believe that NPP can deliver. There are others when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the years was saying that there is the need for us to have Free SHS, there are others that didn’t believe. So if now we are implementing it and there will be one hot meal per school, do you want me to give the contract to an NDC person who didn’t believe it? No! We will give it somebody who believes in the programme and policy so that you can deliver our objectives. Their term of office has ended, so if they are recruiting different caterers, obviously NPP people as we are, we even know how to do better, so there is nothing wrong getting our people to be part of those government programmes.”
Mr. Boadu was speaking on the sidelines of the 2017 NPP Greater Accra Regional Delegates Conference held at the Trade Fair Site, La- Accra.
The programme which is the first biggest meeting of the ruling party since it’s victory in the last polls brought together many party stalwarts including the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, the National Youth Organizer, Sammy Awuku and a host of party/government officials from the NPP fold.
