Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jeffery Osei, has refuted claims that party executives are behind the controversy surrounding the replacement for the late Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

The Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso west Wuogon passed on in the US after a short illness in November.

The two wives of the late lawmaker have reportedly expressed interest in contesting the by elections on the ticket of the NPP.

Posters of the two women, said to be wives of the late MP, popped up on social media over the weekend.

Two different petitions have been presented to officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the party’s headquarters on behalf of the two wives, urging them to contest the upcoming by-election.

Speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive Tuesday, Jeffery Osei, stated that the party has laid down rules in selecting candidates for by-elections.

He noted that the constituency in consultation with the national executives’ will at the right time, choose a replacement for Agyarko. He, however, asked the supporters of these two women to conduct decent campaigns.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Kunbungu, Ras Mubarak has suggested that the opposition NDC should not present a candidate for the by-election.
