Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Honourable Nana Oye Lithur has revealed that 200 market women in the Ashanti, Greater Accra, Volta, and Brong Ahafo Regions have been trained with essential skills to support the economy and better themselves.
Practical training in financial management, sanitation, technology, including basic healthcare are the exercises the women underwent in order to serve as a growth engine and work hand in hand with local government authorities according to the Gender minister.
Nana Oye Lithur during the official closing of the first market women conference at the forecourt of the State House added that traders, both men and women, have contributed immensely to the development of the country both economically and socially.
Reiterating the theme 'Empowering Market Women for Economic Prosperity', the gender minister assured the women that the Mahama-led government will continue to equip the traders with the prerequisite skills and information for economic prosperity and empowerment.
