Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has issued a strong warning to contractors under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP), threatening to terminate contracts for those failing to deliver on promised work.

Speaking to the media after touring the Western and Central Regions, Mr. Korsah criticised contractors who, despite receiving payments, have failed to complete critical infrastructure projects in 35 municipalities.

His remarks highlight growing frustration over deliberate delays and subpar performance.

“Some have been good, some have not been good. Where it’s not been good, we have put in place measures to ensure that nobody frustrates the government and the people who must be enjoying these projects,” Mr. Korsah said.

He revealed that certain contractors, after receiving payments, have not fulfilled their obligations, resulting in significant delays.

“We have observed that some contractors who have some agreement with the ministry to work, having been paid what they need under the agreement, have failed to deliver as required,” Mr. Korsah explained.

The Minister underscored the Ministry's zero-tolerance stance on such issues.

“The ministry is building records of all those people and we intend to apply the law to make sure that they don’t even come near our procurement processes next time, let alone have any jobs with us.”

Mr. Korsah confirmed that some contracts have already been terminated due to non-performance.
