The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has reiterated her pledge to meet the target of fixing streetlights in Accra within the next 50 days.

According to citinewsroom.com, Ocloo stated that she will ensure 70 percent of the streetlights in Accra are operational within the specified timeframe, despite challenges such as stolen cables.

She assured the public that the streetlights would be fixed.

The Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku also disclosed that some MMDCEs have been tasked with conducting working visits to assess the progress of the project.

She guaranteed that by March 10, 2025 Ghanaians should see tangible results.

“We will meet our target within 50 days. Even though we have faced some challenges, we discovered that many of the cables had been stolen. However, we are committed to ensuring we meet our target. We have tasked the MMDCEs, and we are conducting working visits to assess their progress. We are also visiting other locations to monitor the situation. We want to ensure that by March 10, significant improvements will be visible,” she stated.

The minister further assured residents that they would see substantial progress by March 10. Despite the challenges, she emphasized her commitment to fulfilling this pledge.

Discussing the initiative, Ocloo highlighted the crucial role of well-lit streets in enhancing security and improving visibility for drivers and pedestrians. She stated that her office is collaborating with relevant agencies to accelerate the repair and installation of streetlights throughout the capital.

This project is a response to growing concerns about poor street lighting in various areas, which has been linked to rising road accidents and criminal activities.
