The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to harness digital solutions to create jobs for the youth in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the 2024 Youth manifesto of the party at UPSA on Monday, August 12, 2024, he said the next NDC government will train one million Ghanaian youth in coding and digital marketing.

John Mahama said the NDC remains committed to building a fintech industry to boost the economy and lay the foundation for a prosperous future for the country's youth.

He explained that the initiative is to equip the youth with employable skills and create new job opportunities for them.

"My young brothers and sisters, ICT is vital to the 24-hour economy. That is why we will equip young people with digital skills and job opportunities, including the One Million Coders programme.

"The Accra Digital Centre was established to facilitate jobs for you, the youth. The Centre will train students and unemployed graduates, enabling them to capitalise on digital job opportunities. We will set up digital centres in other parts of the country," he stated.

He said the party's manifesto goes beyond digital empowerment as it spells out several key initiatives, including increased access to quality education from the basic and second-cycle to tertiary levels, affordable healthcare, and job creation programmes.
