The Acting National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has stated that the party is not in a hurry to launch its 2016 manifesto ahead of the November general elections.
He explained the party will not launch its manifesto anytime soon to avoid the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) plagiarising their ideas.
Blay accused the NDC of copying their ideas in the past and that they will not give them the room to operate this time around.
The Acting National Chairman of NPP alleged that the NDC twist ideas in NPP’s manifesto thereby making it their own, hence their decision to delay the launching of their manifesto
"We don’t think it’s too late to launch our manifesto, we have had an experience where our opponent, particularly the NDC which by itself, might not have had or thought of itself some ideas or policy immediately we come out, that early, before we realise, they take it, compare, and then take a few things out from it, and make it their own, we don’t want them to do that, we won’t give them that opportunity. When we launch it, it will not be possible for them to take a few things from it. Nana Addo and Bawumia are not saying anything that has not been discussed," he explained.
Speaking on the Ultimate breakfast show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he indicated that the leadership of the party is not worried that five months to the general elections, their manifesto has not been launched.
He assured that both the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as leading members of the party would not be making empty promises to Ghanaians.
According to him, a competent committee has been set up by the party to brainstorm on its manifesto.
"Ultimately we will come out with our own document, but at our own time, we will do so, very soon, you do remember that not long ago we set up some sector committees and I can tell you on authority that they have been meeting, thinking out very well and comparing it with our earlier 2012 manifesto and what the party stands for all this while, and they are doing all that and taking into cognisance the experiences Ghanaians are going through, events and economical trends. This I can assure you," he indicated.
He assured that the party is working assiduously to ensure that they create jobs for teeming Ghanaians.
