We won’t allow NPP to threaten the entire country - NDC's James Agbey warns Bryan Acheampong

James Agbey James Agbey

James Agbey, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has warned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against any attempts to rig the upcoming 2024 elections.

This comes in response to recent statements made by Bryan Acheampong, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, during a campaign rally in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.

Acheampong asserted that the NPP would do "whatever it takes" to win the elections, emphasizing the party's diverse support base, which includes pastors, imams, and traditionalists.

He declared, "Burn the sea if you don’t understand, we’ll win and continue with our good works.”

Reacting to Acheampong's comments, James Agbey highlighted similar threats from other NPP leaders, including Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi) and Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo).

Agbey accused the NPP of planning to use dubious means to retain power, referencing past incidents of electoral violence and malpractice.

"This latest threat from Bryan Acheampong is coming on the back of similar statements from Wontumi and other leading members of the NPP. Wontumi is on record to have said that the NPP have one million ways to win elections and will win election 2024 by every means possible," Agbey said.

"We are fully aware of the ongoing NPP agenda to illegitimately hang on to power in 2024 even as it is clear that Ghanaians don’t want them in office. Let it be on record that the NPP don’t have a single brave man in their party. We have more braver men in the party of Rawlings than the NPP can actually boast of," Agbey added.

"We won’t allow the NPP to threaten the entire country in an attempt to wreck our democracy and throw the nation into chaos.”
