Wenchi hospital to get OPD

Wenchi (B/A), Dec. 6, GNA - Mr Bernard Clement Kwasi Botwe, Administrator of the Methodist Hospital at Wenchi, has commended the government for voting 500 million cedis for the construction of an Out-Patients Department at the hospital.

He was speaking at a farewell party for the visiting Consultant Urologist, Dr. Allan Miller, at Wenchi at the weekend. Mr Botwe called on the Wenchi District Assembly, NGOs as well as well-to-do individuals to show concern and donate generously towards the hospital's development.

He commended Dr. Miller for successfully performing prostrate operations for 30 patients at the hospital, which yielded 50 million cedis.

The Administrator said a duplex accommodation for two nurses had been completed at the cost of 130 million cedis with funds provided by Beltman Foundation in the Netherlands. He said a concrete walkway linking the hospital maternity ward and the main yard had also been completed at the cost of 18 million cedis, generated internally.

Mr Botwe commended friends of the hospital in Northern Ireland, led by the Reverend Brendan McCarthy for supplying a terrazzo floor at the cost of 60 million cedis towards the hospital project.
