West Akim Presbytery draws up a 10-year development plan

Akim Oda (ER), May 22, GNA - The West Akim Presbytery of Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has drawn up a 10-year strategic development plan from 2006 to 2016. The plan has a short term programme 2006 - 2008, medium term 2008 - 2012 and long term 2012 - 2016.

Reverend Daniel Opong-Wereko, Director of Administration and Human Resource Management of the Presbytery, disclosed this to Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda on Thursday. He stated that the strategic plan spelt out the vision, objectives, strategies, targets and action plan that gave directions and momentum to the pace of future growth, operations and development. Rev. Opong-Wereko who is also Akim Oda District Minister of the Church, explained that the plan would keep the Presbytery on track, despite future changes in personnel and leadership and allowed a more participatory approach to development. He said "as a hallmark of Presbyterianism, the early Missionaries engaged themselves in the holistic development of the souls won and the communities".

"In appreciation to this, the present 'Saints' in the Presbytery feel challenged to continue with this holy legacy and wish to respond to the demands of their generation by way of service in their socio-cultural and political environment," he added. Rev. Opong-Wereko noted that all the districts and local congregations had plans to engage in a project, which could serve as a social service to their communities. He said the vision and mission statement of the Presbytery were expected to guide stakeholders in the overall development of the church.
