Five paramount chiefs in Western North Region are calling on Wiawso traditional area to pacify the gods on curses they invoked on the regional minister as it is against the customs, practices and traditions of the land.

At a press conference led by Adontenhene of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional area, Nana Paani Marfo the second, the regional minister Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu needs the support of all and sundry especially the chiefs in order to develop the area and attract investors.

The chief's call comes after a group of people allegedly invoked curses on the regional minister.

The group in an attempt requested and declared that the people of Sefwi and by extension the Sefwis/Aowins can't work with the minister.

Their reason is a letter written on June 11, 2019, by the regional minister to the local government and rural development allegedly reporting that “The undermining activities and behaviour of the Deputy Minister for Western North Region.

It is also alleged in the said letter that, the deputy minister is conniving with the Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso to change the agreed-upon site for the RCC without any knowledge.

On June 17, 2019, one Mr Kwame Nkuah Okumdom held a press conference and demanded an unconditional apology from the regional minister to the overlord of Sefwi Wiawso traditional area saying the use of the word "conniving" was derogatory and disrespectful.

The chiefs indicated the said attribution to the Overlord of Sefwi Wiawso traditional area, Katakyie Bunanga the second in no uncertain terms.

At the press conference, Mr Nkuah Okumdom also called on the president to relieve off the regional minister post. The representative from the five paramountcies, however, disagree with the call.

“We the five paramountcies herein-gathered wish to call on the president to maintain the western north regional minister to continue his good work”. Says Nana Paani Marfo.

The accused Nkuah Okumdom of wanting to inject baseless ideologies into the people of the region to cause fear, hatred, division, and further instigate party politics into chieftaincy institution.

“From all indications, Mr. Kwame Nkuah Okundom is a self-styled political propagandist who wants to inject baseless ideologies into the citizens in the region to cause fear, hatred, division, and further instigate party politics into chieftaincy institution in our newly created region.”
