Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Running Mate of the NDC, has said that the governing NPP has no solution to the double-track system bedevilling the Free SHS system.

According to her, the claims by a leading person in the NPP that if the double-track system is eliminated from the Free SHS system, many students would be denied access to high school education are untrue.

Speaking at Gindabuo in the Sawla-Tuuna-Kalaba Constituency during her Savannah Regional campaign tour, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang said the statement is an indication of the NPP's unwillingness and lack of a solution to eliminate the double-track system.

She stated that the previous NDC government, in which she was the Education Minister, envisaged the challenge and hence started with a progressive Free SHS by building more secondary schools to accommodate the high numbers of students entering secondary education.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang questioned the whereabouts of the 350 new secondary schools that President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia's government promised to construct to eliminate the double-track system.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang stated that under the NDC, Ghana used to write the same exams as other African countries, and Ghana performed credibly well among the countries in the sub-region.

She revealed that because of the bad management of the education system under this NPP government, Ghanaian students could not write WAEC's competitive exam with other countries. Hence, WAEC now has a separate exam for Ghana alone.

This, she believes, is destroying the future of Ghanaian students.
