Where is Bawumia's accident report? Lawyer quizzes

A public interest Lawyer, Sam Pee Yalley is questioning the outcome of investigations into an accident involving the 2012 presidential running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which occurred last year.

According to the lawyer, the police have said nothing about the incident, noting that the public would be glad to know the reasons why Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie (Sir John) towed the vandalized car from the accident scene even before the police arrived.

Mr. Sam Pee Yalley believes that, by law, “if a vehicle has been involved in an accident, one does not have any right to touch it even if it involves a political figure. “The first duty is to report the incident to the police who will then come and examine to see the cause of the accident and later tow the car for further investigation. If a man could rise higher than the police and has the feeling that he is untouchable, why wouldn’t he do what he did?”

On revealing the main brain behind this issue, Mr. Sam Pee Yalley said: “the accident which happened in the North got Sir John who was living in Kumasi, manage to tow the car overnight after the accident occurred to an unknown garage because he believes the police cannot do a proper investigation on the vehicle.” He said till date police investigation of Dr. Bawumiah’s vehicle has not been published.

He is urging the police to delve into the cause of the accident and bring the culprits to book to face the law, since no one is above the law.

Lawyer Sam Pee Yalley was speaking on Radio Gold’s current affairs programme, Alhaji and Alhaji with Alhassan Suhuyini on Saturday.
