Where is the arson report on market fires - Kweku Baako asks

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr., has demanded the release of the report of American-assisted forensic investigations into some recent market fires in Ghana, some of which the causes were put down to arson.

“What is the status of the investigative report of the recent fires? Where are they? He asked”

“This whole arson charge…where is that report?” Mr. Baako demanded.

Some suspects arrested in connection with some of the market fires have been in the custody of the Police for the past three weeks.

The prosecution in the case says it is still piecing together evidence against the suspects.

The Judge sitting on the case has threatened to set the two suspects free if the prosecutors fail, for the third time, to present any form of evidence against the suspects at the next hearing.

Kweku Baako has described the failure of the Prosecutors to assemble evidence against the suspects as “incredible”.

Speaking on Joy FM’s news analysis programme ‘Newsfile’ on Saturday July 20, 2013, Kweku Baako asked: “What are we doing to ourselves?”

He added that: “We want a disclosure on the investigations that have been done”.

“…You talk of arson, you talk of investigations that led you to arrest suspected arsonists, and you go to court and [for] three weeks you are having this challenge to the extent that the Judge is threatening to free them or bail them?”
