NPP’s General Secretary, John Boadu has questioned the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on whereabouts of the report following an investigation into a “controversial” Ford vehicle former president Mahama received as gift from a Burkinabe contractor Djibril Kanazoe in 2016.
It has been 3 years since an investigative piece by Manasseh Azure Awuni revealed how the Burkinabe contractor became friends with the then President John Mahama and how he (the contractor) was given three separate contracts by the government.
It is unclear which report the NPP General Secretary was referring to, as per checks indicate that shortly after the scandal in 2016, the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ) was tasked to investigate after which they published a 78-paged report.
The report concluded that the President's action did not breach the bribery, corruption or conflict of interest laws of the country after petitions flew in from political parties and a private citizen.
Also, in the CHRAJ report, former President Mahama was found guilty of breaching the country's gift policy by accepting the controversial Ford gift given by Djibril Kanazoe.
NPP General Secretary John Boadu addressing journalists at a press confab, Tuesday September 12, 2019 asked for the findings from investigations carried out on the controversial vehicle saga involving the former president.
“Where is the report on the Ford expedition that Mahama received as a bribe from a foreign contractor who managed to win road contracts after he was introduced to the president in 2012”? He asked.
The NPP's presser was in response to claims of corruption by the opposition party.
