Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has officially launched the Electronic Gate system at Terminal 3 of Kotoka International Airport.
The E-Gate, which was inaugurated on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, provides passengers with a smooth and efficient entry process upon arrival.
Furthermore, passengers can now use their Ghana cards to access and pass through the gate.
Dr Bawumia highlighted that this innovative system would eliminate the hassle and lengthy procedures typically associated with immigration checks for arriving passengers. It will also assist in fishing out dubious and unscrupulous individuals who may want to enter the country illegally.
The latest project, which forms part of Dr. Bawumia's digitalisation drive vision, is trending on X for Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
Some Ghanaian netizens have commended Dr. Bawumia's innovative ideas, viewing the E-Gate as a significant milestone in Ghana's journey to becoming a technology hub and competing with other developed nations.
However, there are also critics who believe that the commissioning of the E-Gate is not an achievement worth celebrating.

The problem has always been the citizens, who are often less discerning hailing leaders for the barest minimum hence you get the VP commissioning toilets & e-gate at Kotoka International Airport making the news, this raises questions about Ghanaians expectations, disappointing.

Sometimes I'm astounded by your thought processes. Didn't it occur to any of you that before the Veep could launch the e-gates, multiple tests would have been carried out? Yet, when a manipulated video emerges, you're thrilled that it supposedly failed. We might overlook your…
