The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Daniel Okyem Aboagye is wondering why the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding for credit over achievements of the ruling administration.
"I don’t know why they want credit; even in parliament they still demand credit. Why do they want credit for the good things and rejecting the bad; they should claim all. If he (Mahama) wants credit, we can maybe give him 5%; but what actually did he do as far as the economy is concerned? he queried.
The Bantama MP who was speaking on UTV asked Ghanaians not to believe any statement coming from the NDC and its flagbearer adding "look at the Free SHS; which millions of children are benefiting from it; he said he will review; Mahama the reviewer general; if we don’t even take care he might scrap it."
Background
The former President John Mahama is reported to have stated that his administration is responsible for the growth of the economy.
According to him, "all that growth, fastest-growing economy in the world, it's the oil sector. They are from the TEN field and the Sankofa field that we worked on in our time. And that made me, in 2016, say that Ghana was going to be the fastest-growing economy in the world and that we are going to grow above eight per cent. I predicted it before they (NPP) came into office. And, so, you're seeing growth based on those revenues, you didn’t introduce them, you’re just the beneficiary of the hard work that the previous government did"
