The Host of Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Dr. Randy Abbey, has criticised the Ghana Police Service for arresting individuals based on their social media posts.
He argued that inviting people for questioning over their social media opinions is unnecessary.
He criticised the government for attempting to silence critics and suppress dissent through these moves by the police
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Dr. Abbey questioned the police's approach to regulating social media content and called for a review.
"I see people posting on social media and then being picked up by the police because their posts are deemed illegal or criminal. I believe only a useless government would resort to such measures," he said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service, led by Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has stated that it will continue to address misinformation and false allegations on social media.
Notable figures like politician and entertainment pundit, Kwame Obeng Asare, also known as A Plus, and others have been invited by the police over their social media claims.
