Kumasi, April 13, GNA - Hajia Zanabu, wife of the late Member of Parliament for Asawasi, Dr Adamu Gibiril, has insisted that she was not only insulted but also attacked by Miss Patricia Appiagyei, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, during a recent visit to console her in her residence.
She said the claim by the Miss Appiagye that she neither cast insinuations nor attacked her should be dismissed as untrue and meant to "throw dust into the eyes" of people.
Hajia Zanabu said this when a delegation from the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic congress (NDC) visited her.
The delegation was made up of Mr Ofosu Ampofo, National Organiser of the NDC, Bede Ziedeng, acting General Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman and Madam Agatha Abrafi, regional women's organiser.
Hajia Zanabu said even though the behaviour of Miss Appiagyei was strange and an affront on her personality and dignity, she has "for God's sake decided not to take any action nor avenge the act". "I have left everything to God because vengeance rests with God the Almighty and not mankind", she said.
The widow commended the NDC for their assistance and support for she and her family since the death of her husband, saying their practical concern for the family was an indication of the genuine affection the party had for the late Dr Gibiril. Mr Ampofo advised her not to let the demise of her husband be an obstacle to peace and progress of the family but she should work much harder to project and protect the good works and name of Dr Gibiril. He assured her that the NDC had a responsibility to make life bearable for her and her children and would therefore not relent in that mission.
Mr Ziedeng said even though the late MP did not serve for long he had "left his footprints on the soil of democracy in Ghana" and that this should be enough consolation not only to the family but to the NDC as well.
