Accra, Nov. 29, GNA - Mrs Marcia Jackson, wife of Mr Alphonso Jackson, United State Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, on Wednesday donated a number of books to the Adabraka Presbyterian School in Accra.
The books included encyclopaedias, US culture, history and government and books for children.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, she said every child needed good quality education and the President John Agyekum Kufuor had keen interest concerning education of children in the country. Mrs Jackson was formerly a Senior Associate with Africa Global, an Africa focused company dedicated to serving the public relations and private sector development needs of Africa governments and the US and Africa private sectors.
Her projects have included coordination and development of HIV/AIDS projects, agricultural development and corporate social responsibility projects in African countries with America oil holdings. Mr Emmanuel Anneh, headmaster of Adabraka Presbyterian School, said the books were not for only the children but also for teachers to read and teach the children.
He appealed to the general public to come to the aid of the school by donating books and computers, and to creating opportunities for the less privileged in society.
Mr Anneh said the population of the school was 810 but there were only nine computers.
