Witnesses storm Accra Sports Stadium

Jehovah Witnesses on Tuesday said they would charge on the Accra Sports Stadium not to play a game but to "Give God Glory" in an International Convention from December 11 to 14.

More than 30,000 Jehovah Witnesses would descend on the stadium in a spiritual onslaught from all corners of the globe to pray for world peace.

A statement issued in Accra by the News Service Department of the organization said, the Convention was one of the series of international conventions to be held in 29 cities on five continents by Jehovah Witnesses this year.

Delegates are expected from Europe and other parts of Africa to attend the convention to be opened by Benjamin Annan, Chairman of the organization.

The statement said Mr Annan would present a paper on "Assembled to Glorify God" to set the tone for the convention by highlighting how God's creative works serve to glorify him and exalt his name.

Programmes lined up include interviews, talks and other discourses that focus on boldly speaking about God's word and relying on him for strength in times of distress.
