Woman, 32, remanded for pouring acid on rival

A 32-year-old woman, Vida Ama Odame Boadi, has been remanded into Police custody by Akim Swedru Circuit court in the Eastern region for pouring acid on her business rival, Ama Dwomoh, 45, for allegedly insulting her during a quarrel over customers.

The accused person has been charged for causing harm and will reappear in court on July 8, 2019.

The facts of the incident are that on June 21, 2019 around 10:30pm the accused person allegedly stormed the house of the victim at Akyem Oda Community 6 where both live and poured the substance on the victim who was discharging wastewater collected from the effluent of the bathroom after bathing.

Vida Dwomoh sustained serious burns on her face, chest and arms. She was rushed to Oda Government Hospital where She is currently on admission and fortunately responding to treatment.

Police investigations revealed that, the victim and accused person lived in the same neighbourhood and were operating Provision Stores opposite each other in the community six area, however, both women have been quarrelling over customer patronage.

The accused claims she was insulted by the victim during one of such incidents hence leading to the acid attack.
