Woman Bathes Footballer With Acid

On April 26 2012, Richard Agbesi, a 22-year-old footballer and son of a retired police officer, woke up at dawn, as usual, to begin his training.

When he reached the backyard of Madam Ama Kese, he decided to pluck some mangoes from a tree near the woman’s window.

Unknown to Agbesi, the woman was hiding behind the mango tree with a cupful of acid. As Abgesi burnt down to pick a mango fruit, Madam Kese poured the acid in his face and started shouting “Ewi oo, Ewi oo”, to wit “thief, thief”.

When neighbours rushed to the scene, they saw Agbesi in pain as he tried to find his way. He was rushed to the St. Theresa’s Hospital but the situation was so serious that the victim was referred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment. The Nkoranza police arrested the woman and she has since been granted bail.

When DAILY GUIDE visited the St Theresa’s Hospital the victim was totally blinded by the acid.

He was weeping uncontrollably when he heard his friends were there to console him.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Agbesi’s colleague, who is also a footballer, Michael Nsoah, said all of Agbesi’s friends were devastated because he was such a good player, adding that it was unfortunate his career had to come to an end due to the incident.

According to Nsoah, if anyone tried to kill the case, they would have no option but to retaliate.

Agbesi’s friends are so peeved that if the woman is not arranged before court, it is likely they would carry out their threat to give her an acid bath.
