THERE WAS utter shock and sorrow when a 7-year-old boy (name withheld) told the Odorkor Police that his aunt and a pastor had fed him with toilet and urine on allegations that he was a wizard.
The 44-year-old aunty, whose name was given as Gloria Frimpong, also reportedly used hot iron several times on the victim's face, hands, legs and ribs just to compel him to confess that he was a wizard and the cause of his grandmother's sickness.
Madam Gloria, DAILY GUIDE gathered, was arrested on Thursday October 1, 2009 upon a report by Bukari Alidu, her landlord at their Olebu residence near Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra.
According to sources, the suspect locked up the boy in a room upon seeing the police, but the cops subsequently rescued and sent the victim to the hospital due to his unhealthy condition.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE , DSP Baffour Apenteng, the Crime Officer at the Odorkor Police Station, revealed that the victim is the suspect's nephew and had stayed with her for some months now.
He said on September 30, 2009, the Police received information from Bukari Alidu that the suspect and her pastor, after their routine prayers, allegedly accused the little boy of being a wizard and consequently burnt the child with hot metal to force a confession out of him.
DSP Apenteng further told DAILY GUIDE that the child was also fed with a mixture of faeces and urine after failing to confess to the allegations of wizardry.
The woman had since refused to mention the name of the pastor, but the police said they were making all efforts to apprehend him.
According to the Crime Officer, the pastor used to visit the suspect and her sick mother in the house where he prayed for them.
He said reports indicated that barely a few days ago, the landlord of the suspect spotted the victim standing in front of their house with burns on his face and other parts including the hand, legs, and ribs.
DSP Apenteng said the landlord, wondering what the cause of the burns was, asked him if he had fallen into fire.
“The victim then confessed that his aunt with their pastor had accused him of being the cause of his grandmother's sickness and had subsequently used hot metal to burn him to confess to the accusation,” he said.
“They also mixed toilet and urine together and forced me to drink,” the victim disclosed.
DSP Apenteng said the landlord then enquired from a deaf and dumb sibling of the victim who also demonstrated how the seven-year-old boy was tortured by the suspect and her pastor.
The landlord, according to Police Chief, later confronted the woman over the issue, which she denied.
He said a report was subsequently made to the Anyaah Police, leading to her arrest.
According to the Crime Officer, the victim was in a bad state when he was brought to the station, adding that the child was rushed to the Police Hospital for medical attention.
