Woman cries foul over 'missing baby' at Catholic Clinic at Kasoa

After nine months of pregnancy, Eva Darfour, went to the clinic to deliver, but returned home without her baby.

Darfour went to the St Gregory Clinic at Kasoa, Accra on May 25 this year while in labour.

According to her, staff of the clinic failed to attend to her several hours after she arrived at the health facility in labour.

Several appeals by her mother and sister who accompanied her to the health facility to get her some help also fell on deaf ears and she ended up delivering in one of the wards instead of the maternity ward.

Darfour said she was later told that her baby died in the process, a claim she strongly doubts.

She wants the clinic officials to produce her baby dead or alive as the hospital appears unable to produce the body of the said dead baby.

Speaking to Starr News’ Abena Owusu Nyamekye, Darfour said her baby was wrapped in a polythene and taken away by the nurses without any information being communicated to her.

She added that neither her nor her family appended their signature to any document for her baby to be buried on their behalf by the clinic.

Darfour has threatened to sue the clinic if the body of her baby is not produced as soon as possible.

But an Administrator of the St. Gregory Clinic, Mathias Anaba said Darfour is deliberately denting the image of the hospital with her non-existent claims.

According to him, the brother-in-law of the baby's mother paid GHC20 for the dead baby to be buried by the hospital.

He added that Darfour and her family were informed that the baby was born dead and wonders where her claims are emanating from.
