Tarkwa (W/R), March 27, -GNA- Madam Lariba Ayiba, a 29-year old mother at Dwira Ampansee near Wassa Simpa in the Wassa West District has delivered four babies in a village where she was residing alone with her husband who served as a midwife and assisted her in the delivery. The bouncing babies, a girl and three boys who are on admission at the Tarkwa Government Hospital are doing well, according to Hospital authorities.
Narrating the incidents before, during and after helping his wife to go through successful labour and delivery, Daniel Kojo Ayiba attributed the success story to God's own intervention. In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ayiba said when the wife got pregnant he sent her to Eikwe hospital for pre-natal care and they came back to their village.
He said on the day of delivery, he was preparing fufu for the wife when the wife told him that she was about to deliver. Ayiba said he prayed for God's intervention and indeed he was able to help the woman bring forth three children.
At this juncture, Ayiba left the wife alone in the village and rushed to inform a church member about three kilometres to the nearest town who mobilized the church members and sent a vehicle to go and convey the mother and the children to Tarkwa Government Hospital. On his return, the wife had delivered the forth baby in addition to the placenta.
Apparently, the couples already have three children and with the arrival of the four he is pleading for public support. The pastor in-charge of Simpa district of Pentecost Church Rev. Robert Kojo Taylor said on hearing the incident he mobilised church members to convey the couple and the babies to the government hospital at Tarkwa.
He said some people have started pouring in gifts in response to Ayiba's appeal.
The mother of the quadruplets said she was fit and described her delivery as God's handiwork and appealed to the public to support her in the upbringing of the babies. 27 March 07
