The Police at Akwatia in the Eastern Region are on the heels of a woman who allegedly poured boiling water over her 11-year-old daughter leaving her with severe burns.

The circumstance under which the water was poured on the girl is unknown as the suspect is yet to be arrested.

The woman, Sarah Perntwah, was said to have refused the girl medical attention and locked her up in a room for almost a week.

Assembly member for Domeabra electoral area, Ahmed Yusif, who was informed about the July 14-incident, was also refused access to the victim whose name the Police gave as Maa Adwoa.

He consequently on July 20 lodged a complaint with the Police.

According to the Police, some personnel were dispatched to the house of the victim but on reaching the place they were informed the girl had been sent to the St Dominic Hospital.

Her mother was however not at the hospital when the Police visited the place. According to the Police, the victim was found with “burns all over her body”.

Photographs were taken of the victim as evidence.

The Police say they have now mounted a search for the mother of the girl who is the prime suspect in the case.

She is likely to be charged with negligently causing harm.
