The Chairman of the Peoples National Congress(PNC) Bernard Mornah has jumped to the defense of President Akufo Addo in the midst of deafening criticism against the AU Gender Champion for his inclusion of women in decision making comment.

The President at the Women Deliver conference in Canada said there has been inadequate dynamism activism on the women’s front to occupy position of power.

Many have criticized the President with the opposition NDC women wing asking him to render an unqualified apology to Ghanaian women for belittling their effort.

But Bernard Mornah in an interview with Starr News as believes otherwise, adding that President Akufo Addo spoke raw fact.

“I don’t know why we want to engage in politics of pretence this is our country Ghana and we do know that there are a lot of Gender activists. In 2008, it was the PNC having seen the activism of Dr. Rose Mensah Kutin and many others decided that Dr. Rose Mensah Kutin could be a possible running mate to Dr. Edward Mahama in the 2008 election. When he proposed Dr. Rose Mensah Kutin as just some of the names that were being speculated as running mate for Dr. Edward Mahama, Dr. Rose Mensah Kutin put out a very strong worded response saying that she’s not a member of any political party and could not be considered for a running mate. She said all the unprintable things simply because her name was speculated as a possible running mate and a possible Vice President of this country. That position was not for contest, that position was to be nominated so that you could become Vice President of this country.

He added: “If the women are shying away from that responsibility those who have the wherewithal to match the men pari passu are running away then who else will take up the responsibility. Akua Donkor has formed a political party how many women are backing her to become the President of this nation. So if the President is saying that our women have not exerted themselves when they have to, it is a challenge to our women.”
