Wontumi prepares for showdown with Mahama’s brother

The Ashanti Regional Office of the New Patriotic Party says it has received a letter forwarded by lawyers of President Mahama’s brother, Ibrahim Mahama, asking its Chairman to retract defamatory comments made about him.

The Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, wants Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, to retract a statement targeted at him and the President on a political platform suggesting that they were misusing tax payer’s money.

He wants an apology rendered to him and the President else he will seek legal action.

He also wants the retraction published in the Daily Graphic and aired on Kumasi-based Ash FM, which aired the said allegation at an NPP function at Obuasi.

Spokesperson for the NPP Chair, Edward Okuoko, told Ultimate Radio, the issue has been referred to the NPP Chairman’s lawyers.

“We received information from the regional secretary of the NPP that some letter have been served on him apparently meant for the Regional Chairman and he is claiming it is coming from solicitors of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama. We have communicated to the lawyers of Wontumi and they have also decided to prepare an appropriate response to the President’s brother. So it has become a legal matter so it’s in the hands of our council led by Egbert Faible Jnr. They are going to write an appropriate response to that” he noted.
