Work on cells for women at Sekondi to begin soon

Takoradi, Jan. 19, GNA - Work would soon begin on cells for women at the Sekondi District of the Ghana Police Service. Mrs Jane Borquaye, President of the Western Regional Branch of the Police Ladies Association (POLWA) disclosed this in an interview with the media at Takoradi on Wednesday.

She said POLWA had already spent 100 million cedis on cells for women at the Takoradi Central Police Station and would be inaugurated on January 30.

Mrs Borquaye who is also Head of the Courts Unit of the service said 12 women would be accommodated when completed.

She said POLWA would in addition; rehabilitate the cells for men at Takoradi and Sekondi to include a water closet and hand-washing basin. Mrs Borquaye appealed to the public, non-governmental organisations to assist POLWA to make their dreams a reality.
