Tema, Sept. 4, GNA - Speakers at a day's forum on the Single Spine Salary Policy (SSSP) in Tema on Thursday, were unanimous that, workers were waiting for Government to issue a White Paper on the recommendations by the Consultant of the scheme.
They said if government comes out finally with a favourable and an acceptable decision, then workers would accept it in good faith. Should government's decision be unfavourable, workers' leaders would then enter into further negotiations with government, to ensure the successful take-off of the SSSP. The speakers, at the seminar organised by the Tema branch of the Civil Servants' Association (Ghana), included Mr Tennyson Foli, Mr James Ekow Amissah, Vice Chairman and Acting Executive Secretary respectively, of the Association.
The rest were Mr Daniel Amamoo, Member of the Technical Team on the SSSP, and Mr Simon Danso Tse, Chairman of the Tema branch of the Association.
They assured workers that the leadership of the Association would ensure that the package in the SSSP would meet the expectation of organised labour.
Mr Alfred Ofoe Agbobada, Secretary of the Tema branch of the Association appealed to workers to cultivate savings habits, by joining its Savings and Loans Scheme. 4 Sept. 09
